Pneumapress Filter Corporation

Pneumapress® Filter Corporation designs and manufactures a wide range of highly effective automatic pressure filters for liquid/solids separation.

Pneumapress® filters are ideally suited for liquid/solids separation in many industrial processes including mineral, metallurgical, starch, gluten, gypsum, biomass, DDG, paper and pulp, pharmaceutical, food grade, and sanitary processes.

Pneumapress automatic pressure filters offer a simple design to ensure operational reliability along with low maintenance and utilities costs. Filters can be customized and tailored to customers' specific application needs.

Pneumapress® Filter Corporation was founded in 1989 by Mr. Steve Benesi who became owner and president. Mr. Benesi had worked for several years on the installation, start-up and troubleshooting of a wide range of filtration equipment. After observing the difficulties associated with this equipment, such as complexity, lack of reliability and effectiveness, Mr. Benesi sought to develop filtration equipment that would resolve these difficulties. The design of this new filtration equipment would focus on simplicity, reliability and cost effective operation.

The first single module filters went into operation in 1991. Following the very successful introduction of these single module filters and seeing the need for larger capacity filters, Pneumapress® introduced a series of multi-module filters in 1995. The first of these multi-module filters went into operation in 1996 and allowed the available filter size to increase from 12 ft² (1 m²) to 360 ft² (25 m²). Through customer feedback and R & D efforts, Pneumapress again increased the capacity of the multi-module filters to 720 ft² (50m²). With a wide range of filter sizes and options available, Pneumapress® began to expand into many different applications and geographical markets. In 1997 the first international sale was completed.

In May 2008, FLSmidth Minerals acquired the automatic pressure filter business of Pneumapress Inc. The acquisition of Pneumapress enables FLSmidth Minerals to continue to strengthen its global growth strategy. The acquired filter technology has potential applications in nearly every flowsheet where filtration is required. And with the footprint of FLSmidth Minerals, it will provide the resource to increase the market share to be number one in minerals filtration.

Research and development has been an integral component in the success of Pneumapress. The main objective of the research and development focuses on new filter media, new filtration processes and technology, and providing solutions to customers who are developing processes or upgrading existing processes.

Pneumapress sales, engineering, and research facility is located in Richmond, California, USA.
