Krebs Close Packed Cyclones

Krebs Close Packed Cyclones are compact, high capacity, centrifugal separators designed to efficiently separate fine solid particles from liquid. The vessel accommodates many individual hydrocyclones, each uniformly fed using one common feed nozzle, providing consistent operation of all units. Krebs Close Packed Cyclones range in size from 0.5 to 3 inch [13 to 76 mm] in diameter.

Krebs Close Packed Cyclones can make separations as fine as 5 microns, depending on the slurry characteristics. When choosing a hydrocyclone the decision is based on the specific gravity of the solid and liquid, viscosity, and the desired particle size to be recovered. The vessel size is determined by the total flow rate required for the application. Krebs standard materials of construction are steel or stainless steel for the vessel and stainless steel or ceramic for the hydrocyclones. As with any Krebs hydrocyclone design, however, any material request is possible for this design.

Krebs Close Packed Cyclones are ideal for the removal of fine solids in the chemical, power and petroleum industries, as well as in the food, steel and machining industries.

Features and Benefits

  • Relatively compact size as compared to an external manifold system configuration.
  • Variety of materials of construction.
  • Ability to be ASME code stamped for high temperature and pressure.
  • Use of "blanks", which allows for operational flexibility where flow rates may change from the original design conditions.
  • Continuous or intermittent solids discharge.
