Through FLSmidth Buffalo in South Africa, FLSmidth Minerals has extensive experience in the design, development, manufacture, and servicing of feeder breakers.
The original Buffalo feeder-breaker was developed and successfully introduced into coal mines in 1975. Since then, constant product development and innovation has ensured that the Buffalo feeder-breaker has become an industry standard.
Feeder-breakers are used mainly in underground, mechanized mining of materials such as coal and potash. The feeder-breaker is traditionally used between the mobile mining machinery and the fixed conveyor systems to reduce product size and smooth the flow on the conveyor belts.
Feeder-breakers consist of three main sections - the hopper, the feeder section, and the breaker section. These sections are incorporated into a robust and mobile machine that we can wheel, track, or skid mount according to your requirements.
The feeder section can be supplied in either flight-bar or flightless configurations. The Buffalo dual flightless conveyor chain arrangement results in longer chain life, better size control, and the capacity to run either or both of the dual conveyor systems.
The breaker section consists of a single drum, utilizing slow turning picks to fracture, rather than crush, the material. The picks are self-sharpening with a patented fastening clip for secure fastening and quick removal. This design yields a more even product size while minimizing the generation of fines.
Features of FLSmidth Buffalo include:
- ROM feed size to 1000mm (40”)
- Capacities up to 2000 tph
