Pneumapress® filters are ideally suited for liquid/solids separation in many industrial processes including mineral, metallurgical, starch, gluten, gypsum, biomass, DDG, paper and pulp, pharmaceutical, food grade, and sanitary processes.
Simple design and function ensures operational reliability along with lower maintenance and utilities costs. Pneumapress filters can be customized and tailored to customers specific application needs.
Pneumapress® filters provide the highest throughput per unit filter area exceeding other tower-type filter presses. They are also made of the simplest and most abrasion resistant construction, providing low maintenance and downtime; there are no true technical parallels to Pneumapress® in the minerals field.
Many mining and mineral applications may take advantage of propriety Pneumapress technology. This technology either eliminates the need for thermal drying by obtaining very low product moistures or it provides the operator the ability to control the moistures to a desired level.
Applications include coal, iron ore, copper processing, zinc, nickel, molybdenum, bauxite, gold, lead, soda ash, phosphate, potash, PCC, calcium sulphate, solvent extraction processes and minerals concentrates.
Application Example: Precipitated Silica During crystallization and clarification, precipitated silica compounds are removed from geothermal fluids. Pneumapress® filters are used to filter, wash and dewater a 230F, corrosive silica slurry that is supersaturated with chloride salts.
The filter produces washed, dry solids which consistently meet requirements without further processing.
Five filters have been installed to date.
Calcium Sulphate In a calcium sulphate application, a Pneuampress® filter is used where the slurry must be maintained at high temperature and dewatered rapidly to very low moisture content.
Copper Sulfide In a copper smelting application, a Pneumapress® filter washes, dewaters and dries copper sulfide to allow for economical processing downstream.
Operational Advantages - Simple, fully automatic operation ensures the customer very high availability and minimum operator involvement
- Specialized filter media are developed for the Pneumapress® to meet individual customer process requirements
- Availability of a standard industrial package and a sanitary package provides the customer with solutions to match their needs
- Fast cycle times exceed other tower-type filter presses and provide very high output per unit filter area and minimize the required floor space
- The ability to process a wide range of flow rates, pressures and temperatures ensure suitability in many diverse applications
Maintenance Advantages - Filter plate construction eliminates the use and necessary replacement of diaphragms and seals
- Filters are constructed using 1/10th the components of other pressure filters which results in low maintenance costs
- Replaceable components i.e. bearings are interchangeable with standard manufacturers and available locally
- Filters may be constructed using metric or US standard fasteners and components to ensure ease of maintenance
