Lime Slaker

EIMCO® Lime Slaker
The combination slaker-classifier is a two-compartment vessel providing for slaking, classification and grit removal in a single unit. In the slaking tank, complete tank turnover and uniform bulk blending are achieved without shear by the high pumping capacity of the large diameter, slow speed, axial flow impeller. From the slaking compartment, the slurry flows to a quiescent classifying zone where the coarse solids settle and are removed by screw conveyor. Both standard and deep bowl designs are available.

Size Range: 2.5 - 8.5 meter diameter
Maximum Capacity: 17,000 m3/day of clarified green liquor

Eimco® Slaker Scrubber
For positive dust emission control, Eimco slakers are operated at a slight vacuum and connected to an Eimco high efficiency vent scrubber. Both static and eductor style scrubbers are made of stainless steel and use water as a scrubbing medium. The static unit uses the condensing effect of cold mill water aided by a stack to draft the slaking bowl. The eductor unit relies primarily on the water spray through a venturi for draft generation and can therefore recirculate water successfully.

Dorr-Oliver Slaker
The Dorr-Oliver Recausticizing Plant Slaker is specially designed to slake rebured lime from the kiln with green liquor. Retention time is provided to slake the lime and start the causticizing reaction. Mixers are axial flow type to minimize power and particle degradation. The screw classifier with a shaft mounted drive, removes over 65 mesh grit to waste. The unit is totally enclosed and is provided with both a cyclone green liquor/lime feeder, and a water eductor scrubber, to eliminate the need for forced draught scrubbers. Sizes are available from 6' – 24' in diameter with mixing compartments for liquor flows of up to 1800 gpm.

Feeders
The cyclone feeder connects the end of the lime feed screw to the slaking bowl. Lime falls through the center pipe and Green Liquor is introduced tangentially around the pipe. The lime and Green Liquor mix at the end of the center pipe inside a curtain of Green Liquor. These actions reduce the particulate burden on the scrubbing system.

Gritreater® System
Slaker grit is lime mud that pebbled in the kiln but did not calcine. It is rejected from the Slaker classifier based on size, not chemistry. The Gritreater® System reduces that grit to the size of lime mud. This allows its return into the system, ending expensive landfill disposal of wet, high pH grit.
